On to Pierowall

We knew that the weather was about to take a turn for the worse, with high winds forecast, but we did not feel like going back to Kirkwall after our trip round Rousay. Besides which the tides were all wrong for heading in that direction by the time we got back to Robinetta; they were perfect for getting to the last marina in the Orkneys though, so after eating dinner on board we came off the mooring and headed for Pierowall.
We talked to the harbour master before we left, checking there was space for us in the small marina. With only six visitor berths, and a force 7 in the forecast we did not want to get there and not be able to moor up! He assured us that there was room, and that the shelter was good.
It was an uneventful trip, motoring in a flat calm, but through lovely scenery, with the tide taking us along at a good rate of knots. When we got to Pierowall we found a vacant finger berth, and tied up securely. It was hard to believe the weather was going to turn!
