Rousay

The gentlest night ever on a mooring. Woke to bright sunshine.
After a leisurely breakfast we rowed (ie our resident oar hog Alison rowed) to the harbour and wandered around to wait for the 11 o'clock ferry to bring our fellow tourists. Paddy turned up apologetically 1 minute late. "Some people on this island don't know how to drive" - I was reminded of a certain tv advert with impatient carribeans on a bus.
We drove slowly around listening to the history, wildlife and economy of the island until we stopped for lunch at a beautiful beach. There were seals on the rocks, and a picnic bench to eat at.

In the afternoon the topic changed to archaeology and the largest chambered tomb 'in Europe'. Very impressive. Also a Broch to match Gurness opposite on Eynhallow Sound.
