We meant to head to Anstruther today, but set no
alarm, and had not passage planned it. We slept in, not waking until
0800, and I needed to do some laundry. By the time we were ready to
think about leaving it was gone 1100, and we realised that we should
have left at 0700 if we wanted to get into Anstruther in daylight.
It's not bad to have a day in harbour. The weather
was great, and sat in the cockpit for lunch, then motored over to the
fuel bay at high water. This was in the harbour area, and mostly set
up for bigger boats to lie against the harbour wall; Julian went
ashore with the lines, and had to climb a ladder to get them tied on.
The posts had rubber cladding on them so we did not need to worry
about fenders against rough wood. They came straight over from the
Harbour Office and handed down the hose, which was very high pressure
and I had problems getting into the tanks. I only ended up taking 14
litres before the tanks were full, which seems very little
considering we were motoring for over 20 hours. I was distracted
though, as a big fishing boat came and tied up directly behind us,
waiting for fuel.
Julian could not get back on board easily when we
finished, as I had had to move away from the ladder he went ashore
by, so I motored gently back to the pontoon while he paid. The
skipper from the Dutch catamaran ahead of us helped me moor up, and
Julian arrived just after.
After that we went for a walk around Eyemouth, then ate dinner in the Contented Sole.
